Our Story
We’ve been serving the community since 1919
American Legion Post 57 has been part of Elgin since 1919. What started as a gathering place for veterans coming home from the First World War has grown into a full community post – hosting events, supporting families, assisting with VA claims, and making sure veterans in the Fox Valley have somewhere to turn. We’re run by members, for members, and we take that seriously.
Today, Post 57 continues that tradition through veteran advocacy, community service, social events, fundraising, and programs that strengthen both veterans and the community around them.
The American Legion is the nation’s largest veterans service organization, advocating for veterans, service members, and military families while fighting to end veteran suicide. With more than 1.6 million members, The American Legion is truly a grassroots organization helping shape U.S. policy on many fronts, including veterans health care, national security, foreign affairs and the economy.
